A ‘CRÍTICA DA CRÍTICA’ COMO ‘ROMANCE DE APRENDIZAGEM’: O CAPÍTULO PRESENÇA

Abstract

The author takes a look at his long relationship with the Presença, namely with its doctrine, theory and critique. Divided into four large parts –  1) poetic creation, 2) nature and purpose of the literary art, 3) matters of history and time periods, 4) defense and exemplification of the critique –, the essay aims at showing how the reflexive work of José Régio, Gaspar Simões and Casais Monteiro, great names of this generation, are backed by chains of thought typical of modernity, i.e., that long period of time between the end of the 18th century and the second half of the 20th century.
