In his Crónica de D. Fernando, Fernão Lopes shows a remarkable evolution in the art of reconstructing the history of Portugal through writing. Based on a cohesive narrative structure, which blends facts and fiction, he devises a kind of character dramatization that gives prominence to the king, the queen and their respective siblings (prince João and Maria Teles). This essay focuses on this topic, addressing particularly these characters and their figuration.
