In this brief essay, we analyze Hélia Correia’s latest novel to date, Um Bailarino na Batalha. The text emphasizes the representation of a historical phenomenon (African migration towards Europe) and, at the same time, relationships between the two sexes. The author succeeds in creating, through the aligning of these vectors, episodes of great scenic effect and of a frightening cruelty.
