Abstract

Feminist theory and criticism show great interest for the perspectives of silenced, oppressed and marginalized women as well as for the study of the discursive articulation of the oppression and the strategies of feminine resistance. This is the reflexive context of our analysis of the work A escola by Domingas Samy – it is a study of a literary articulation of women’s lives and experiences, their subordination and resistance. Also we intend to emphasize the aspects of textual problematization of questions related to women, giving special attention to the essentialist models of the construction of meaning.
