Which fi gurative devices does each media use and how could it enhance character definition? How does character transposition in between media take place? In which ways does adaptation come close to or move away from the original work? How do visual and sound elements broaden the mental model provided by literature? These guiding questions contribute to structure the present article in which the aim is to discuss issues of adaptations, fictional characters’ reuse, media transpositions, survival of characters and thematic extensions that will be approached through the work of Rubem Fonseca.
