Abstract

The participation of teachers in the development of projects related to “Education for Peace” in the south of Spain has constituted a very significant phenomenon during the last fifty years. This paper puts forward an approximation to the key elements that define such participation, after having clarified the concept of peace and its pedagogical application. In addition, this paper will outline the recent challenges that affect the program of “educación para la convivencia” [education for living together]: the particular difficulties for the teachers when implementing it, and their responsibility in that process.
