Content analysis is a technique that is very often referred to and used in the social and human sciences, namely in educational research, but it is rarely performed in an adequate way. This paper argues for a more systematic and rigorous approach to this type of analysis and proposes technical solutions for some of the main situations with which content analysts confront themselves. This paper includes methodological recommendations with respect to several aspects of this kind of work and includes a checklist that allows researchers to determine the extent to which their analyses meet criteria of rigour in this domain.Downloads
