Abstract

Based on Pierre Bourdieu's sociology, the article reflects on the role of art in distinguishing and socially valuing elites and the effects of a socio-cultural milieu with broad aesthetic stimuli in school education. Regarding the presence of art in the fabric of social relations, based on the conformation of capitals, among which the cultural occupies a relevant position in the distinction of elites. The principles that lead such fractions of class to become involved in the art market are used as a device for analysis, ensuring the legitimacy of their values and lifestyles. As a theoretical essay, we construct the argument that the teaching of art from rational pedagogy enables the transmission of the legitimate instruments of understanding of art to all those who did not appropriate it in the origin of their school education, reducing initial inequalities in the face of artistic culture.

Mestre pelo programa de Pós-graduação em Educação da UFPR. Graduada em Licenciatura em Artes Visuais pela Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa, com formação complementar (mobilidade acadêmica) pela Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa-Portugal. 

Cristina Medeiros, Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR)

Possui graduação em Educação Física pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1991), especialização em Educação Física Escolar/UFPR (1994), mestrado em Educação na linha de Cultura, Saberes e Práticas Escolares pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (2003) e doutorado em Educação, também pela UFPR (2007), onde defendeu tese sobre a apropriação da teoria sociológica de Pierre Bourdieu no campo acadêmico educacional . Atualmente é professora associada da Universidade Federal do Paraná no curso de Educação Física, professora permanente da Pós-Graduação em Educação - UFPR.

Adriane Knoblauch, Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR)

Possui graduação em Pedagogia pela Universidade Federal do Paraná, mestrado e doutorado em Educação: História, Política, Sociedade pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo e pós-doutoramento em Educação pela USP. Atualmente é professora associada do Departamento de Teoria e Prática de Ensino da Universidade Federal do Paraná e atua no programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação desta mesma universidade.
