This paper aims to reflect on the pedagogical teacher training in stricto sensu graduate programs of a Brazilian public university, from the perspective of curricular and pedagogical knowledges in the context of didactics and curriculum. The syllabuses of 40 post‘graduationdisciplines in the area of health sciences were analyzed, which are part of the Program for the Improvement of Education‘PAE.
This set of syllabuses underwent a document and content analysis on the basis of theoretical contributions from the fields of curriculum and didactics. The data revealed that the syllabuses of the analyzed disciplines focus on aspects of the methodology and teaching strategies rather than on the explanation of the personal and professional dimensions of teaching. More specifically, didactic and methodological preparation for the higher education teacher has been emphasized under an instrumental perspective, relegating to a second place the theoretical, epistemological, political, and pedagogical assumptions of the teaching practice. Furthermore, the PAE program could be a training place for valuing pedagogical training.
