Throughout a reading of Vou lá visitar pastores, published by Ruy Duarte de Carvalho, this article proposes an analysis of several vectors regarding Kuvale ’s conditionality, mainly in respect with this people ’s identitary positioning in face of the Angolan nation state construction. Equally, the article proposes a reflection about the political and social impact of globalization in Kuvale ’s tradition, considering aspects as the relationship with NGO’s, cattle ’s circulation in rapport with women, and the shepherd’s specific economy. Addressing the reality of this Angolan people, the author’s literary project stands out, permeated of an autobiographical and fictional practice stylistically seductive, overcoming the mere ethnographic exercise.
