Les études sur les fragments de manuscrits en Espagne. Bilan et considérations diverses

This paper makes an assessment of what represents the study of the fragments of manuscripts for the history of books and written culture in general. A list of various causes of the destruction of the ancient manuscripts are enumerated. Simultaneously, it inquires about the birth of cultural interest in Spain related to fragments of manuscripts and more relevant methodological trends are revised as different considerations on some important project of research in progress in this field are done. Emphasis is placed on the need for recovery and study in archives and libraries not only public but also private, and various criteria on the most convenient way to present such studies are made.
