The present review article aims to be a bibliographical synthesis on the theme of sanctity, especially in the medieval time. The purpose is to describe, in general features, the definition of "saint" and "sanctity", showing the different kind of role models of sanctity and their main characteristics. Afterwards, the focus is giving to the cult of the saints, explaining the several theorics about the origin and some of the practices of the cult.
