Abstract

In this study the author describes various sixteenth century Portuguese and Spanish illuminated manuscripts held in the University of Coimbra Main Library. He identifies their graphic and decorative traditions, whilst also attempting, for educational purposes aimed especially at a university public, to evaluate their historical and cultural legacy.
