The author introduces and publishes the specific "capítulos" (claims), which the clergy presented at the Lisbon courts of March 1455. The claims to the court in general and the ones published here in particular - rare sources of historiography of the church and its agents in the Middle Ages - through their original discourse and lexical richness, unveil details of the clerical universe, their ideas and worries in the political context of intense modernisation of Portuguese royal power in the second half of the fifteenth century.
