In what way do the criteria presented by L. Pérouas apply to the dioceses of Alentejo? In the diocese of Beja and the archdiocese of Évora, the same geographical dimorphism and differences in religious behavior are observed. However, in Portugal, the consequences are completely different: it is in the wealthiest regions that religious faith is apparently livelier. The religious map of today's Alentejo was shaped by other factors: socio-economic (defined by A. Querido) and historical ones.
