The perception of floods in North-eastern Catalonia between 14th and 17th centuries: from chronicle notes to popular autobiographies

This essay, centered on the district of Girona, aims to examine how floods were perceived in Catalonia during a long period before the Enlightenment. It focuses on short chronicles, journals and other similar texts in order to retrace the way people became aware and described the aforementioned meteorological phenomena. In addition, it observes several mechanisms to deal with emergencies and risk prevention.
