Abstract

Newspapers were actors of great political and social relevance during the Portuguese revolution (1974-1975). On the one hand, they were involved in the political battles and main events at the time; on the other hand, they were the target of multiple and varied control attempts by several forces.
In a period where the press itself went through a process of profound changes, this article seeks to analyse and provide context, reflecting on the main trends of journalism from that period.
