The Casa do Trabalhador do Amazonas (CTA) is an important space that until today brings together different union categories, serving at the same time as headquarters, auditoriums for meetings and activities of political formation and sociability space. Its creation began in 1944, during the government of Álvaro Maia and, until today, the house is constituted as a multiple and plural space of the Amazonian working class. In this article, I intend to analyze the process of founding and consolidating the Casa do Trabalhador do Amazonas between the years 1944 and 1964, when the civil-military coup in the country severely impacted the labor unions and associations. From the analysis of the daily press, the memories of one of the important union leaders of that moment and other documents, I intend to analyze the political and union disputes that occurred during the mentioned period.
