The present paper announces the discovery of a manuscript - Vida de huma illustre virgem (The life of an illustrious virgin) - by Luís de Santa Teresa (O.C.D.) forgotten by historiography. Furthermore, this document bridges a gap in the life of the Carmelite monk - from around 1730 to 1735 -, a lost track which has now been found. The author raises some of the most relevant issues relating to this period of the friar's life in Braga, as filtered by the author. The paper highlights certain features of monastic life in the convent of Benedictine nuns of S. Salvador, notwithstanding the Jacobean profile of the biographer, in a context of vacant see and resistance to the affectionate paths of the union with God, inspired in Molinos's doctrine.
