This article is based on research on the history of the feminist movement in the state of Paraíba and the militancy that occurred during it. The article starts off
stating that women have truly revolutionized work in the fields, our understanding of family and the organization of feminism as a movement. Qualitative research was done to gather material for this article, along with conducting interviews and on-site observations. The interviews were conducted using the oral history methodology and the material was later carefully analyzed, with input from the New Cultural History. The article discusses how the recent Polo da Borborema women’s movement is related to the existence of rural feminism in the state and its history of social movements and peasant syndicalism, latent during the last decades of the 20th century.
