Resumen

Este ensayo analiza el libro Maldicidade (2014), del fotógrafo hispanobrasileño Miguel Rio Branco, enfatizando la organización de su unidad narrativa y poética como fotolibro. El foco está en la composición como un diálogo implícito entre texto e imagen y el uso de técnicas de montaje y collage  de la vanguardia modernista destinadas a expresar la condición contemporánea de miseria y sufrimiento en las grandes ciudades de las Américas. El argumento principal es que la unidad del libro como fotolibro va más allá de la naturaleza referencial de la fotografía en términos de narratividad visual en un esfuerzo por revelar la condición común de su urbanidad poshumana.
