The main purpose of the present paper is to present the main conclusions of a qualitative study of the life trajectories of six young deaf adults attending higher education institutions. Through the collection of participants´ opinions and stories in Portuguese Gestual Language, we tried to identify the facilitators, barriers and difficulties felt by deaf college students in their process of transition to higher education, based on the transition model proposed by Schlossberg, Waters and Goodman (1995). In this way, it is intended to give statute to Education, in general, and to Adult Education, in particular, through a multi and transdisciplinary effort that may allow the construction of an image that gives sense and relevance to deaf college students’education, recognizing its importance as a factor of justice, social cohesion, and country development. Rethinking the future of education and valuing the specificity of its methods, forms, and practices, this will start to be an element of support for a truly inclusive, holistic and superior education.Downloads
