The problem of corruption shows several aspects concerning the different angles
through which it can be seen. In this paper we try to show the main perspectives
‑ we call it truths – of the problem, namely those from the discourse that has been
produced by the media, the social perception of the Portuguese people about the
problem, the juridical and criminal concepts associated with the notion of corruption, the formal truths achieved during criminal investigations and in trial, and, to finalize, a brief description and analysis of the dimension of the problem in Portugal.
