Abstract

The existence of a daily podcast brought to the newsroom of Público newspaper a complementary space where journalists can deepen their stories through audio. Between April 9, 2019 and July 17, 2020, the newspaper produced 300 episodes of the P24 podcast, highlighting themes related to the sections of international, politics and society. In this article we analyze the content produced and the evolution of its audience, themes and protagonists.

This podcast, initially launched with funding from Google Digital News Innovation Fund, also opened space for the creation of a podcasting strategy in the newspaper. Still, audio remains a poor relative within the space of online newspapers (Reis, 2018).
