Archive and/as Montage in The City as Text: Exposing the Chilean Social Uprising

Resumen

Este artículo explora La Ciudad como Texto (laciudadcomotexto.cl), un proyecto multimedia que registra las expresiones gráficas de la revuelta social chilena de 2019, mostrando digitalmente un fotomontaje de los muros grafiteados de Santiago junto con treinta y seis textos cortos. Propongo que, al exponer unos a otros distintas temporalidades, autorías y medios, y al exponer la construcción narrativa y la mediación deliberada en la representación histórica, La Ciudad como Texto cumple la tarea crítica que Derrida encomienda a la literatura: dar testimonio del secreto anárquico del archivo de maneras que nos permitan pensar en su naturaleza protésica y sus aporías. Es esta condición anárquica, esta dependencia de un suplemento exterior, la que otorga al archivo su posibilidad redentora, la promesa que hace al futuro al volver un evento pasado (il)legible. Estas tecnologías suplementarias hacen posibles eventos de lectura, lecturas que producen el momento originario y exponen los vacíos que deja para el futuro, lecturas que ponen de manifiesto las posibilidades y valencias del evento. Sugiero que es a través de la modalidad particular del montaje que La Ciudad como Texto prolifera eventos de lectura, tratando el archivo no como "el sitio de una narrativa, sino como un sitio de desnarrativización; no como una región de comprensión, sino como un espacio de exposición" (Moreiras, 2018: 10).
